Acrylic Information
Start by painting a background on your canvas in a colour(s) of your choice. Once dry choose a design and then use charcoal to draw your design on the canvas. Start by applying the lighter paint colours needed for the design first, followed with darker colours to add depth, details and definition to your artwork. Continue with this process until you are happy with your creation.
Collagraphy Information
Collagraphy is a print-making process where different materials are glued onto a cardboard ‘plate’ to create a design. Once sealed with spray paint, colour is added to the 3-D design by using oil paint or inks. Excess paint/ink is then removed and a sheet of paper that has been soaked in water is placed on top of the plate which is then rolled through a printing press to create a unique one-of-a-kind print. The plate can be reused using different colours.
Gelli Printing Information
To make a Gelli print, a gelatine plate, water based acrylic paint, a brayer roller, paper and stencils or natural materials (leaves, flowers) are used to create a pattern and print.
A few dots of acrylic paint are rolled onto the Gelli plate until smooth. The stencils or natural materials are then placed onto the paint and covered with paper. The entire paper is then smoothed over with your hand until only the paint under the stencil/natural material remains. The paper and stencils/natural material are then removed and dots of a contrasting paint colour are dropped onto the Gelli plate and rolled until smooth.
A second piece of paper is now placed onto the Gelli plate and smoothed over with your hand. Lift your paper off the Gelli plate and enjoy your unique print!

“ Judith is a patient teacher and also adaptive to the group’s skill set and each individual’s vision for their artwork. It was easy to follow her step by step instructions and I love my artwork! Was so much fun creating with others over a cuppa and slice!”
